Unity Theatre, Brenham, Texas is a professional theatre. Unity Theatre is located at 300 Church Street, Brenham, Texas, in the historic downtown district. Located in an old warehouse building that was renovated for Unity Theatre, Brenham, Texas. Each year the theatre presents about seven plays that are always a treat to enjoy. The venus is small and there is not a bad seat in the house.
This 2013-2014 season will be Unity Theatre, Brenham, Texas’ 19th year. What a great line up they have put together, for this season. The season starts off with “You Can Never Tell” by George Bernard Shaw. Set in the 1890’s this seaside town, features the escapades of teenage twins, their beautiful older sister, their missing father, their liberated mother and a lipstick dentist, all meeting in the most unusual family reunions. Shows run September 26- Octotber 13, 2013.
On October 24- November 3, 2013 the second show of the season will be ‘First Night” by Jack Neary. It is a story of an old love who appears on New Year’s Eve. The play is a warm, wittiy, charming comedy about dreamers, life, and lost love. This play will be part of the studio series.
Make sure you make plan this Christmas to see the “Nutcrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical” by Dan Groggin, playing December 5-22, 2013. Presented on the Main Stage this musical about Christmas time being Nunsense time presents an uproariously funny sequel which is the perfect way to ensure your holiday season is merry and bright!
“Almost Maine” by John Cariani is a romantic comedy which will run February 13- March 2, 2014. It will be presented on Unity theatre, Brenham, Texas’ Main Stage. Almost residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways.
Come laugh again with “Laundry and Bourbon” by James McLure. This will also b part of the Studio Series and will run April 3- April 13, 2014. This is a romantic comedy and takes place on the front porch in Maynard, Texas. It is a hot summer afternoon with old friends, sharing laughter, tears, and liquor, in this slice of small town life.
Presented on the Main Stage Unity Theatre, Brenham Texas will be a comedy thriller, ‘Deathtrap” by Lra Levin on May 22-June 8, 2014. This is a story about writer Sidney Bruhl who had hit a dry spell, but devises and evil plan to overcome it and suspense mounts steadily as the plot twists and turns with devilish cleverness.
A children’s Musical will be presented on July 24-27, 2014. It will be “The Emperor’s New Clothes” by Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy. It is the story of two con-men who “play the palace” in this hilarious, musical adaption of Hans christian Andersen’s well loved children’s tale by The Prince St. Players, Ltd.
