The Christmas Holidays can be very busy with all of the parties and shopping that must be done.  Take time to slow down and enjoy Brenham, Texas and all that is has to offer!  Book your room at Brenham House Bed and Breakfast.   Then head over to Unity Theatre located at 300 Church Street, Brenham, Texas to see Nuncrackers: Nunsense Christmas Musical.  What a perfect way to ensure your holiday season is merry and bright!

Brenham’s Downtown Home Sweet Farm Market

Home Sweet Farm Market is an organic local farmer’s market, located at 306 Baylor, in downtown Brenham, Texas.  It is family owned and worked.  The owner, Brad, encourages other local farmers and gardeners to sell product, at the market as well.  What a treasure we have in our sweet town.  There is a parking lot at the corner of Baylor and Commerce for your convenience.  Bring your shopping bags or a basket to carry your food home.

I have talked with people who have driven in from Houston, just to shop at this market!  They recognize the importance of supporting the local farmers. All product is locally grown organic food.   Not like the food that has traveled miles and miles in a truck, then placed in storage before being stocked to sell, in the stores.  The Home Sweet farm Market is open every Wednesday and Sunday, in historic downtown Brenham, Texas.  Market hours are:

Wednesday 11am to 6pm

and on Sunday’s 11 am to 4 pm,

just in time for our guests, as they leave Brenham House to head home!

So much to choose from as the farmers are offering the best of the Brazos Valley.  There is a wide range of fresh veggies, watermelons, melons, to artisan cheeses, free range eggs, fresh award winning pickles, pickled wild grapes, green tomato ketchup, Serrano hot sauce, blackberry Worcestershire sauce, pickled green beans, and loquat chutney.  There are fresh cut flowers, Chappell Hill Lavender products, Independence Coffee, and local honey just to name some of the other items you will see.  Shop first and then plan your menus!  So different from planning menus and then buying the ingredients.  Of course you have to buy what is in season because that is the freshest and best tasting!

Seasonal events and farm tours are scheduled throughout the year celebrating local foods and our agricultural heritage from the Birth Place of Texas.  Make your plans to shop at the Home Sweet Farm Market any Wednesday or Sunday.  You will be surprised how much better the food is.
