Second Annual Texas Arts Music Festival

Second Annual Texas Arts Music Festival begins on Friday evening and runs through Sunday afternoon, October 20 to 22, 2017.  The festival will be held in historic downtown Brenham, Texas.  Second Annual Texas Arts Music Festival will include live music, mural artists painting on-site, food trucks, and craft beer tasting. Craft beer tasting is known as the Brew Step in Brenham.

Second Annual Texas Arts Music Festival features three stages and ten bands.  In addition there will be live mural painting.  While artists paint the exterior of several downtown buildings you will be able to watch.  Also there will be an Artist Village with artists crafting. There will also be beautiful art you can purchase.  The food trucks and Art Village will be located on South Park Street, in historic downtown Brenham.

At 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 22, the Brew Step will take place with 12 Texas Breweries presenting their craft beers.  Tickets for this part of the festival will be $25.00, which includes 24 samplings and a souvenirs glass.

At 3:30 pm on Saturday, October 22, the VIP tent opens up by the main stage with tables and seating and rotation of local chefs who will be creating a culinary tasting event.  Admission to the VIP tent will be $100, limited to 200 people.

Second Annual Texas Arts Music Festival band line up includes ShinyRibs, Folk Family Revival, The O’s, Jomo and the Possum Posse, Moving Panoramas, The Mighty ORQ, Beau Hinze and The Backporch Shufflers, and Shane Cooley and the Midnight Girls.  Because of our great sponsors all concerts are FREE to the public.  Guest street artist include Jeff Soto, Michael C. Rodriguez, and Daniel Anguilu.

2015 Brenham Maifest Festival

First Weekend in May

2015 Brenham Maifest Festival takes place the first weekend in May.  This 2015 Brenham Maifest Festival will be celebrating their 125th year. It was established in 1881.  For more than a century this very colorful festival has been highlighting Brenham, Texas’ proud German heritage and showcases the youth of the community.  Each year, hundreds of volunteers work countless hours to produce a vibrant parade that will take place in downtown Brenham.  There will be a Junior and Senior coronations, and a weekend festival filled with bands and activities for all ages.  Don’t let not being German keep you away.   It is an awesome experience no matter what heritage you are.  Come and see how it is done the German way!

This 2015 Brenham Maifest Festival is a free admission festival and is held at Fireman’s Park, just north of the historic downtown.  Don’t miss the authentic German tastes and music, cooking contests, as well as quality artisans from around the State.  Now pay attention!  This is the festival that everyone waits for each year.  This is the festival that include out country flavors in.   You can buy a band for $6.00 and eat all of the hand dipped Blue Bell Ice Cream you can eat in a day!  The proceeds for the sale of the Blue Bell Ice Cream goes to benefit the Texas Lions Club Camp for Disabled Children.  Blue Bell is a family run company that is a vital part of Washington County and surrounding areas.  Blue Bell gives back so much to our town and charities come on out and support this great cause.

At the 2015 Brenham Maifest Festival there will be two days of fun.  While at the festival check out the German Food Vendors, Beirgarten and Wine Shoppe, Meister Von Bier Contest, Polka Church Service, Amusement Rides, Band and Entertainment, Arts and Crafts Booths, Royal Coronation, Country Flavors Ice Cream, and a 5 K “Royalty Run”.

Brenham Texas Maifest Festival

Brenham Texas Maifest Festival has been held in Brenham each May for more than a century.  This is the 124th year for Maifest and it is a fantastic way to celebrate the proud German heritage of the people in the local community.  Be part of one of the most widely attended festival in Texas!  This year the Brenham Texas Maifest Festival will be held on May 2-4, 2014.

Friday, May 2, 2014 Brenham Texas Maifest Festival opens its gates at 6:00 p.m. and closes at midnight.  Saturday, May 3, 2014 the festival begins at noon and closes at midnight.  Sunday, May 4, 2014 Brenham Texas Maifest Festival is from noon to 6:00 p.m.  What is there to do at this festival?  There will be a parade though historic downtown Brenham to kick things off.  Then move on down to Fireman’s Park just a few blocks from the town square and there you will find arts and crafts booths, amusement rides, bean bag tournament, Biergarden Wind Shoppe and German food  and vendors.  Live entertainment on Friday night will be Cory Morrow and on Saturday evening performances by William Clark Green.  There will be a Meitser Von Beir contest, bands and entertainment as well as German church service and the royalty coronation!  Did I forget the best part?  Country Flavors Ice Cream if a big part of this festival.  Buy a band for $6.00 and you are able to eat all of the Blue Bell Ice Cream you can handle all day!  The proceeds of the wrist band sales will benefit the Texas Lions Club Camp for Disabled Children.  What a tremendous gift from the Blue Bell Creameries of Brenham Texas!  The Maifest Festival is free admission to Fireman’s Park all weekend.  Grab your friends and come on out for some great German fun at the Brenham Texas Maifest Festival, May 2014.

Bluebonnet Festival Texas

Chappell Hill Historical Society will be celebrating its 50th Bluebonnet Festival Texas Weekend, April 12-13, 2014.  The festival is always held on the second weekend of April, in Chappell Hill, Texas.  Chappell Hill, Texas is located halfway between Houston and Austin on highway 290.  The Chappell Hill Bluebonnet Festival weekend is Texas’ official Bluebonnet Festival.  What a wonderful weekend it will be as all of the bluebonnets are in full bloom and the weather should be glorious.  Bluebonnet Festival Texas is family friendly, so bring everyone!

What began as a small antique show has grown into one of the largest two day arts and crafts festival in the area.  There will be over 400 juried arts and crafts vendors, great musical entertainment, children’s activities, as well as food and drink booths.  Guests are encouraged to come out and tour the museum, the rock store, Providence Baptist Church and learn about the numerous historical markers and sites on the historical Register.  Don’t forget to bring your cameras to capture the beautiful bluebonnets along the way.  While taking pictures enjoy the vast country side.  Remember not to sit your children down, in the bluebonnets.  There are ants, snakes and red bugs amongst them.  Be careful not to crush the bluebonnets so everyone can enjoy them.

The Bluebonnet Festival Texas, in Chappell Hill kicks off on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 9 am-6 pm.  Then the festival begins on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 9 am-5 pm.  There is plenty of parking so come on out and wear your comfortable shoes.   Stroll through historic downtown Chappell Hill, Texas and enjoy the official Texas Bluebonnet Festival!  The festival is free and parking is nominal.  If you choose not to eat out at the festival make sure you stop off at the Chappell Hill Bakery and Deli.  It serves great food and BBQ!

Texas Cotton Gin Museum was designated, on June 19, 2009, as the Official Cotton Gin Museum of Texas.  The museum invites you to join them as you step back in time.  You will take a look at a period when cotton was king.  The Texas Cotton Gin Museum was built in 1914 in Burton, Texas.  Burton, Texas is a small rural German community with 350 people, living in the town.   Burton, Texas is located  halfway between Houston and Austin, on Highway 290. There you will find the oldest working cotton gin, in America.  Guided by the Smithsonian and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, volunteers restored the 1925 Bessemer twin-type IV oil engine.  This engine still powers the gin today.  There are other historic buildings at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum complex which includes a shoe shop, warehouse, and auto shop.  This Texas Historical Landmark, a Historical Mechanical Engineering Landmark is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.  This Texas Cotton Gin Museum is visited by thousands of visitors annually.

Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival

Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival takes place in downtown Chappell Hill, Texas.  Chappell Hill, Texas is a small rural community between Houston and Austin, Texas.  This fun Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13, 2013.  The festival hours are:

  • Saturday, October 12, 2013, 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, October 13, 2013, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival is a short 12 minute drive from Brenham, Texas. That is great for those of you who will be staying with us, at Brenham House Bed and Breakfast.  We will serve breakfast in the morning and then you can head out to the Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival.

 It is scheduled at a great time of year, as the fall season approaches.  There will be 250 juried exhibitors selling home decor, yard art, arts and crafts, artists, craftsmen showing their wooden scarecrows, clothes, jewelry, and just about anything and everything you can imagine.

145th Washington County Fair

The first Fair in the state of Texas was the Washington County Fair, in 1868.  It is held annually and this 2013 year marks the 145th year.  The Washington County Fair is held at the Fairgrounds located at 1305 Blue Bell Road, in Brenham, Texas.  The Washington County Fairgrounds is the site for cutting horse competitions, livestock shows, weddings, concerts, rodeos, and more.  It also includes a new air conditioned exhibit hall.  Every year the Washington County Fair is kicked off with a fantastic parade that goes through downtown Brenham.  Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2013.

Fun Festival at Chappell Hill Lavender Farm

Chappell Hill Lavender and Wine Festival is held every year, in August.  This year Chappell Hill Lavender and Wine Festival is on Saturday, August 10, 2013.  The festival begins at 9:00 a.m. and continues to 3:00 p.m.  Admissions are free.  What could be better than beautiful lavender in the fields and Windy Winery wine?  It is a fun festival with music, as you enjoy tastings, cutting of the lavender in the fields, crafts, vendors, as well as the demonstrations.

Chappell Hill Lavender Farm is located at 2250 Dillard Road, Brenham, Texas.  During the festival you may walk among 3,000 varieties of lavender plants and enjoy the charm of a working lavender farm.  Cut your own lavender, then relax with a cold glass of lavender lemonade or lavender tea!  Of all of the herbs, lavender is on of the most fragrant and known for its soothing and relaxing qualities.  Make sure you go in to the gift shop.  You will find bath and body products, handmade pillows, culinary lavender, fine linens, pottery, lavender teas and coffees.

July Brenham Texas Winery Festivals

Come on out for a grape stomping time! Windy Winery’s Harvest Grape Stomp, located at 4232 Clover Road, Brenham, Texas is having hay rides out to the vineyards to pick grapes, grape stomping and t-shirts to make you own prints, with your purple feet! What a great souvenir to take home, from the event. Join in the fun and share a bottle of wine with your friends, on any of these four weekends.

Pleasant Hill is also having their 12th Annual Crush for Fun. Pleasant Hill Winery is located at 1441 Salem Road, Brenham, Texas. Stomp grapes, get a t-shirt that says,” I Picked, I Stomped, I made Wine!” On this shirt you can put your purple feet print on to show everyone you stomped grapes!.
