Unity Theatre Professional Show Series

Unity Theatre Professional Show Series for  2016 – 2017 will be one you won’t want to miss.  Starting off Unity Theatre season will be a comedy.  The play will be Noel Coward’s Blythe Spirit.  Blythe Spirit will begin September 22 and run through October 9, 2016.  The smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages is one you want to plan to see.  Charles is a cantankerous novelist who re-marries but is haunted by his late wife, the wickedly clever Elvira. Elvira is called up by a visiting “Happy Medium”, Madame Arcati and that is where the fun begins.

Unity Theatre Professional Show Series for December 1-18, 2016 will be a classic Christmas performing Little Women based on the novel Louisa May Alcott.  This is a heartwarming musical that follows the adventures of the March sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.  A timeless story filled with personal discovery, headache, hope, everlasting love, and a lifting of the spirit.

Unity Theatre Professional Show Series for February 9-26, 2017 will be The Diary of Anne Frank.  This play is based on the book “Anne Frank:  The Diary of a Young Girl”.  This show is a powerful adaptation of the inspiring Anne Frank as she confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with honesty, wit, and determination.

Unity Theatre Professional Show Series for June 1-8, 2017 will conclude with Leading Ladies.  It is a comedy by Ken Ludwig.  In this hilarious comedy there are two down on their luck actors who try to impersonate an elderly woman’s nephews in order to inherit her fortune.  Simple task unit they discover the elderly woman only has nieces, not nephews!  This is where the laughs begin.  Don’t miss out on these wonderful shows.  For tickets to these shows click here and order tickets online.

Chapter Two at Unity Theatre

Chapter Two by Neil Simon is a romantic comedy.  Unity Theater will present Chapter Two beginning May 28-June 14, 2015.  Curtain times are Thursdays 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 8:00 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 4:00 p.m.  Ticket price is $27.00.  Chapter Two by Neil Simon was nominated for best play at the 1978 Tony Awards.  The play will be directed by Paul Gaffney.  George Schneider, is the plays main character, who is a struggling play writer.  George is a middles aged widower who is struggling to accept his wife’s untimely passing.  George’s brother, Leo, sets George up on series of wildly unsuccessful dates.  It is at this time that George meets the plays character Jennie Malone.  Jennie is a divorced soap opera actress.  Coping with their separate tragedies, George and Jennie must discover not when, but how they can start Chapter Two in their lives!  In a hilarious subplot, Leo has an encounter with Faye, Jennies’ neurotic friend!

This Christmas Season the Unity Theatre will present a Christmas Musical “Forever Plaid Tidings”, by Stuart Ross.  The show begins December 4th, 2014 and runs until the 21st.  Show times are Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday afternoons at 4:00 p.m.  Tickets are $30.00.  Unity Theatre is located, in the historic district, at 300 Church Street, Brenham, Texas.

Boeing Boeing Starts Unity's 20th Season

“Boeing Boeing” starts Unity’s 20th season off with a great comedy.  What better way to kick the season off than with a classic 1960’s farce?  “Boeing Boeing” is the story of a bachelor named Bernard, who couldn’t be happier living, in a flat, in Paris while engaged to Gloria, Gabriella and to Gretchen.  The playboy bachelor was living the life, juggling the arrivals and departures of the three gorgeous flight attendants.  This supersonic lifestyle of Bernard goes into a tailspin when flight schedules change, and all three women arrive at his apartment, on the same evening!

“Boeing Boeing” was made into a movie starring comedian Jerry Lewis and Tony Curtis.  The movie premiered in December 1965.  The stage production later enjoyed a revival, in 2007, on the West End in London. The play was perfomed on Broadway, in 2008, and won the Tony Award that year for Best Revival of a play.

“Boeing Boeing”, by Marc Camoletti, performances begin with a preview on September 25, 2014.  The opening night will be Friday 16th.  The play will run through October 12, 2014.  Performance times will be Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 4:00 p.m.

Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a “dry” spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of finds.  A possible break in his fortunes occurs  when he receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a near college.  A thriller which Sindey recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway hit.  Sidney’s plan, which he devises with his wife’s help, is to offer collaboration to the student, an idea which the younger man quickly accepts.  The suspense mounts steadily as the plot begins to twist and turn until the final. startling moments of the play.

Unity Theatre Brenham Texas is located at 300 Church Street, in Brenham’s historical downtown district.  The theatre was designed in an old warehouse and is a great venue for professional live threatre.  There is ample parking around the theatre.  There are restaurants, in the downtown, to take advantage of before or after the performances.  Unity Theatre Brenham Texas’ next show will be held April 3- April 13, 2014.  The performances are scheduled for Thurday evenings at 7:30 p.m.  Performances on Friday and Saturday evenings will be at 8:00 p.m.  On Sundays the performances will be held at 4 p.m.  This comedic drama will be Laundry and Bourbon by James McLure.

Unity Theratre presents Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical

Nuncrackers: Nunsense Christmas Musical is Unity Theatre‘s Christmas production for this 2013 Christmas season.  The dates for Nuncrackers: Nunsense Christmas Musical are December 5-22, 2013.  Nuncrackers: Nunsense Christmas Musical runs for 3 weeks and 12 shows starting on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays performances are at 4:00 p.m.  Tickets are $30.00.  Preview night is Thursday, December 5, 2013 and tickets for that performance will be $17.00.  

Nuncrackers: Nunsense Christmas Musical was written by Dan Goggin.  This production will be directed by Jonathan McVay.   This will be a wonderful show you won’t want to miss.  Christmas time is Nunsense time in this uproaringly funny sequel.  It’s the perfect way to ensure your holiday season is merry and bright!  The first “TV Special” is being taped by the sisters in their convent basement studio for Cable Access.  It stars the nuns we are familiar with plus Father Virgil and some of Mt. Saint Helen’s most talented students. It features all new songs including:  Twelve Days to Christmas, Santa Ain’t Comin’ To Our House, We Three Kings of Orient Are Us,  and It’s Better to Give Than To Reiceve.  This musical is filled with Nunsense humor; an uproaringly funny spoof of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Ballet.  There are zany renditions of classic Christmas carols: a send-up if The Village People; and a Catholic home shopping network.

Unity Theatre, Brenham, Texas is a professional theatre.  Unity Theatre is located at 300 Church Street, Brenham, Texas, in the historic downtown district.  Located in an old warehouse building that was renovated for Unity Theatre, Brenham, Texas.  Each year the theatre presents about seven plays that are always a treat to enjoy.  The venus is small and there is not a bad seat in the house.

This 2013-2014 season will be Unity Theatre, Brenham, Texas’ 19th year.  What a great line up they have put together, for this season.  The season starts off with “You Can Never Tell” by George Bernard Shaw.  Set in the 1890’s this seaside town, features the escapades of teenage twins, their beautiful older sister, their missing father, their liberated mother and a lipstick dentist, all meeting in the most unusual family reunions.  Shows run September 26- Octotber 13, 2013.
